Monteloeder fights against childhood obesity by creating MASTERS

Monteloeder, in its commitment to carry out a social awareness campaign in Europe against childhood obesity, decided to invite the Mapfre Foundation to participate and collaborate with them in their project to improve the health and quality of life of the population, trying to solve the problem of obesity from its root: childhood.

This campaign, financed through funds obtained by the European Union Horizon 2.020 (h2020), is focused on youth and seeks to change the problems of tomorrow. According to data from the World Health Organization, the number of overweight young children has increased considerably in recent years, rising from 32 million in 1990 to 41 million overweight children in 2016. It is estimated that by 2025 there will be 70 million.  To avoid childhood obesity can prevent more serious health problems in adulthood, such as heart diseases, diabetes, bone disorders and even cancer.

Monteloeder’s marketing and communication department had the idea of the campaign and manages and coordinates it. Thanks to Mapfre Foundation, we have access to great media figures such as those who represent this campaign, which we present below:

PAU GASOL, professional basketball player of the NBA, together with his foundation Gasol Foundation, dedicated to promoting sport and healthy living, show in a video of less than a minute how easy it is to eat a healthy diet starting from breakfast. He also highlights the importance of resting to maintain energy throughout the day.

DANI GARCÍA, chef and winner of Three Michelin Stars and National Gastronomy Award, awares about childhood obesity along with his foundation, Dani Garcia Foundation, a non-profit organization. In his video he treats the importance of food education from an early age, which should be focused on adults, who are the ones who will transmit it to children.

DR. VALENTÍN FUSTER, recognized cardiologist and general director of the National Center for Cardiovascular Research, also warns, along with his foundation ProCnic Foundation, of the danger of this disease. As he says at the beginning of his video, obesity is one of the leading causes of death in the world.

WILLYREX, youtuber and one of the most influential Gamers among youth.  Emphasizes the importance of going outdoors and practicing outdoor activities, proving that there is life beyond the screen.

The main focus of the campaign is on the testimonies of these four masters who, from their different areas of influence, give a message of awareness to society of how to improve their habits to palliate obesity. This campaign, called Masters, in reference to each one of the figures who participate, focuses on the large population groups represented by our experts in each of their fields.

This campaign will be developed during the month of October coinciding with World Obesity Day making clear its goal of reducing this pandemic of the twenty-first century, focusing on children as the origin of this disorder, since with a correct food education from an early age, we will manage to alleviate the future obesity of the adult population.

The initiative will be published through the social networks of Monteloeder and the Mapfre Foundation, as well as in the networks of each of our Masters. It will be labeled with the Hashtags #H2020 #MetabolicSyndrome #Metabolaid #Obesity #Innoprefat #ResearchImpactEU.

With the purpose of viralizing the MASTERS campaign among social networks, anyone who wishes to collaborate voluntarily and join this initiative to raise awareness against childhood obesity and make this disease visible, can record their own video and upload it to their social networks with the following Hashtags: #Masters #StopObesityChild #StopObesidadInfantil #h2020
